Research from a recent Abt-led, CDC study found that children and adults have similar risks of becoming infected with coronavirus, though a much larger proportion of children are asymptomatic. This emphasizes the need to consider the role children play intransmitting respiratory infections in pandemic control efforts.
Abt’s latest evaluation of the CMS Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative determined the program met its goal of maintaining patient healthoutcomes while lowering Medicare payments, including among beneficiaries who were vulnerable to reductions in care.

Abt will evaluate HUD’s Moving to Work Landlord Incentives program, which tests whether incentives can increase landlord acceptance of vouchers.
California’s Project Roomkey has helped house more than 42,000 people experiencing homelessness who are COVID-19 positive or at high risk for contracting the disease. Abt will evaluate the program’s implementation, and the health and housing outcomes of people who used the program.
Abt, CDC, and partners collaborated on a study of acute respiratory viral infections among women who were hospitalized for delivery during the 2019-2020 influenza season. The study foundthat infection control practices could reduce the spread of influenza and other viral infections.
Two new reports present the results of a quasi-experimental evaluation and cost-benefit analysis of Family Self-Sufficiency programs administered by Compass Working Capital in partnership with three Massachusetts housing agencies. The evaluation found Compass FSS to be cost-effective and associated with gains in earned income and declines in public benefits receipt.
